Faith Ekpekurede has been in Emergency Medicine since January 2006 starting in the Republic of Ireland,then to Northern Ireland and finally to other NHS hospitals across England in both locum and substantive positions.
She is a 1993 graduate of the College of Medical Sciences, University of Benin, Nigeria.
In 2008 she was certified as a Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor under the Irish Heart Foundation/American Heart Association and in 2012 she was certified as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor with the American Heart Association (AHA)which opened avenues to teaching life support courses to doctors ,nurses, pharmacists ,lab scientists ,consultants non healthcare personnel of organizations such as Shell (SPDC), Mobil,Chevron,Addax Petroleum and other government and private healthcare bodies.
She currently holds Membership of the American heart Association (MAHA) and the African Federation of Emergency Medicine (MAFEM). She is also a member of the National Faculty for Basic and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support in Nigeria.
She is also currently the Financial Secretary of the Society of Emergency Medicine Practitioners of Nigeria (SEMPON).Her passion for best practice in emergency medicine drives her involvement in SEMPON which is a group of physicians setting standards in emergency care across the country by means of training and teaching as well as strong strategic advocacy for emergency medicine as a stand alone specialty with residency training in Nigeria.
She has pioneered the setting up of modern /standard Accident and Emergency Units for first Class Hospitals like the Reddington Hospital VI Lagos (worked as Head, Emergency Services) and Lilly Hospital Warri where she rose to the level of Deputy Director.
She also features as guest speaker in seminars where she gives talks on Lifestyle /Dietary Modification and Stress Management.
